A Golden Dress

Puzzles are everywhere. They come in a teacher's note from school, in a form of decision about renewing your fringe benefits or just simply stare at you from a shop's window. Believe it or not! One department store's Holiday decorated window claimed: "Great dress is worth its weight in gold or silver." I was driving by, so not sure I got all the little details right. But the beautiful, T-shirt style, holiday dress was there, sparkling behind the ad. How expensive do you think this dress may be? The ad can't lie, right?

Ouch, how expensive.
I doubt that they would put something as expensive in a window to attract common folk.
And this was not one of the upscale department stores. There is a rick to it. A puzzle.

I suspect you didn't observe the comma after "weight", and the precious metals refer to the colours in which the little dress is available.

You are right, Billy.
The dress was featured in the window in gold and silver colored material. And the cost that I looked up on the store's website was $108 - perhaps translated to a weight of around 108 gram.
