The Running Puzzle

New puzzle suggested by my husband: Two runners are running on the oval track in opposite directions. How would each of them know if he/she is running faster than the other.

If the place you meet the other runner is different each time you complete the oval and the position is after the place you started then you are running faster than the other runner.

Also, if Moshe has eaten dinner just before the run, I will be running faster.
